The useful upgrade is in the controls.

Compare steam release, inner-pot handling and the programs you will use. Count pressure buildup and release when planning dinner.

Instant Pot Duo — 6 Qt

For a familiar set of everyday programs

The Duo combines pressure cooking, slow cooking, rice, yogurt, steaming, sautéing and warming. A stainless-steel inner pot and dedicated program buttons suit cooks who want a conventional multicooker layout.

Before you choose: The listed cook time does not include pressure buildup and release. This is the 6-quart Duo, rather than the Mini or 8-quart version; follow recipes and fill limits for the selected size.

Instant Pot Duo Plus — 6 Qt02

Instant Pot Duo Plus — 6 Qt

For more programs and clear progress information

The selected Duo Plus adds programs including sous vide and sterilize to the basic multicooker workflow. Its display separates cooking information, while an Easy-Release steam switch keeps steam release distinct from the main lid handle.

Before you choose: Duo Plus has been sold in different revisions. This guide matches the linked stainless-steel version; do not assume it has the WhisperQuiet release system advertised on a different Duo Plus model.

Instant Pot Pro — 6 Qt, Black03

FB128 / Pick 03

Instant Pot Pro — 6 Qt, Black

For more programs and a diffused steam release

The non-connected Pro provides a broader set of programs, including sous vide, with a steam-release switch and diffusing cover. It suits cooks who want more control at the appliance rather than through an app.

Before you choose: This is the Pro, not the newer connected Pro Max or Pro Plus. The checked new offer had a later delivery estimate, so compare the current delivery date as well as the selected 6-quart size.

COSORI CMC-CO601-SUS — 6 Qt04

FB129 / Pick 04

COSORI CMC-CO601-SUS — 6 Qt

For a ceramic-coated inner pot

The current COSORI offer uses a ceramic-coated cooking pot and a separate Seal/Vent control. Its lid alignment markers and front program layout provide a different interface from the Instant Pot alternatives.

Before you choose: The coating needs appropriate utensils and care. Check the current ceramic-coated version rather than applying older inner-pot specifications. Preset counts and advertised appliance counts describe different things.

Instant Pot RIO — 6 Qt, Black05

FB130 / Pick 05

Instant Pot RIO — 6 Qt, Black

For a simple multicooker with an anti-spin pot

The RIO’s stainless-steel pot stays in place while you stir during sautéing. It covers pressure cooking, slow cooking, rice, yogurt, steaming, sautéing and warming, with an Easy-Release control for venting.

Before you choose: RIO is a family name covering several sizes and designs. This is the linked 6-quart Black version, not the 4-quart Mini or 7.5-quart Wide. Compare the actual panel and included accessories before checkout.

Choose the pot and the controls you prefer.

Duo covers the familiar basics. Duo Plus and Pro add programs and different steam-release details. RIO emphasizes a pot that stays put during stirring. COSORI is the ceramic-coated alternative. None of those differences proves that one cooks your recipe better.

Is a six-quart pot six quarts of usable pressure-cooking space?

No. Leave the headspace specified in the manual, and follow the lower fill limits for expanding or foaming foods. Maximum vessel volume is not a recipe fill line.

What should I compare after the program count?

Look at lid handling, the vent control, inner-pot material, replacement sealing rings and cleanup. Choose the programs you use rather than treating a larger function number as an automatic upgrade.
